BIOGRAPHY

17 year old Danny Lane is an aspiring young performer. Born on 4th July 1994, he can't remember a day when Singing wasn't his passion. He has even seen home videos of his 2 year old self dancing around the living room to Bjork...though he's not quite sure why he told you all that. He seemed to inherit his voice from his Grandmother; and when he made his Amateur acting debut at 8 years old as the lisping Winthrop Paroo in The Music Man, he starred alongside his Grandmother who played the Mayor's Wife - a special occasion for all involved! He stayed with the company for one for more show, playing Little Jake in Annie Get Your Gun.

In 2004, a family friend noticed that a newly formed Youth Theatre were holding auditions for a production of 'Oliver!' and that Danny should try it out, which he did. He was overjoyed to be accepted into Footlights Youth Theatre and stayed with them from their 2004 formation right up until the summer of 2009. Being in a Youth Theatre allowed Danny to audition and play roles that would normally have been out of his range, thus giving him vast amounts of room to grow as a performer. While at Footlights Youth Theatre, he managed to play parts such as The Artful Dodger in Oliver!, Colin Craven in The Secret Garden, Action in West Side Story, Jack in Into The Woods and very demanding roles such as Tevye in Fiddler On The Roof and Jean Valjean in Les Misérables: Schools Edition, both of which were directed by Paul Monaghan, who has starred in the West End as Jean Valjean, Javert and The Phantom to name a few and can also be seen as The Bishop in The 10th Anniversary Concert of Les Misérables at The Royal Albert Hall.

While at Primary School, Danny always used to take an interest in the arts; looking forward to the School Plays, taking Guitar lessons and being part of the Choir. In his last year at Primary School as part of the Choir, Danny got to perform at The Royal Albert Hall. Danny's education after this point took an interesting turn. He spent his Year 7 at a middle school in Stanmore and it was after that, that his parents noticed an advert in the local paper from a Theatre School based at The Bull Theatre, High Barnet, who were auditioning. Before he knew it, he was there auditioning in 2006 - in fact it was the same place that 2 years earlier he was auditioning for Footlights Youth Theatre. He was accepted and spent 4 amazing years there where he was able to blossom and grow even more as a performer. While at SETS, he managed to get into performances such as 'A Very Musical Evening' at the historic Wilton's Music Hall alongside Hannah Waddingham, Jonathan Groff, Gareth Gates, Stiles and Drewe and hosted by Aled Jones. He also became part of the Voice In A Million Choir and performed solo songs at The Liverpool Echo Arena and The 02 Arena and professionally recorded a song for a charity album that the company put together. Even though he has now left SETS, he still returns at least once a week to help out and will always be there at the monthly Open Mic Night's that are put on.

Near the end of his time at SETS, it was suggested that he looked at Saturday Schools to help further his singing as his voice was taking a very classical turn alongside Musical Theatre. In 2008, he was accepted into the prestigious Royal Academy of Music where he is currently in his last year studying Classical Singing - though Musical Theatre will always be his first love.

For the last few years in his spare time, Danny puts on solo cabaret shows at various Retirement Homes and Social Clubs where we provides at least an hour of entertainment for the Elderly members with a variety of songs from Musical Theatre and his other love: Swing and Big Band. The audience love it and are always on their feet dancing and singing along and there is no greater feeling for Danny than this - so everyone is happy!

Danny is a keen Twitterer (is that a real word? Who knows...but you can follow Danny on Twitter at @dannylane94) and it was through Twitter that, in 2011, he was given the opportunity to be part of what would be his West End debut. Producer Chris Macklin (@ChrisMatanle on Twitter) was also making his West End producing 'A Night For Jennifer' which was a one-off gala in aid of The Jennifer Charity which support Widowed Fathers and their children (more information can be found at: www.jennifercharity.co.uk) and and they had been in contact through Twitter for the past few years. After viewing a video of Danny singing, Chris asked him if he would take part in the 'Up-and-Coming' section of the Concert. It didn't take Danny long to think about it. On Monday 31st October 2011, Danny took to the stage at The Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue alongside major West End stars such as Gina Beck, Jeremy Legat, Chloe Hart, Mazz Murray, Stevie Webb and Rosalind James to sing Being Alive from Stephen Sondheim's 'Company'. A recording of this (not recorded or uploaded by Danny) can be found under the 'Videos' tab. You can check out all of Danny's videos on YouTube by searching his username: Danny064.

Danny is currently in his final year at Barnet College taking an Extended Diploma in Music and starting in September 2012, Danny will continue his training on the 3 year BA (Hons) Musical Theatre course at GSA.

Danny feels extremely lucky to be blessed with everything that has come his way so far and all before he has even had his 18th birthday! These experiences have strengthened him as not only a performer but as a person as well; and this is only the beginning - so watch this space! Danny will hopefully achieve his dream and be hitting a West End stage soon.
